Tools and Strategies for Continuous Quality Improvement and Patient Safety
Tools and Strategies for Continuous Quality Improvement and Patient Safety.
Continuous quality improvement (CQI) is both a management philosophy and a management method. It offers an approach, a set of tools, and a way of thinking about how to transform clinical flow and operations to achieve better results for patients and teams. The evolution of CQI in health care may be traced to the pioneering work of Florence Nightingale in 1850s. Nightingale used empiric observations and robust statistical methods to link unsanitary conditions with the high number of preventable deaths during the Crimean War. This papers covers topics: A History of Quality Improvement, Approaches to Quality Improvement, Quality Improvement Tools.
